Amarnath Yatra: Permits, Route and What to Expect
10 Oct 2026 · AL-Iqra Admin
Unlike most trips on this site, the Amarnath Yatra permit itself is not something any travel operator can issue — it comes directly from the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, through their official registration process, which includes a compulsory medical certificate.
The registration process
Registration typically opens months ahead of the yatra dates, which are announced annually by the Shrine Board. A medical fitness certificate from an authorised doctor is a mandatory part of the application — this isn't optional paperwork, it's checked at registration.
The route
The traditional route starts from Chandanwari near Pahalgam and passes through Sheshnag and Panchtarni before reaching the cave shrine. It's a genuinely demanding high-altitude trek, not a casual walk, and fitness preparation matters.
What we support
We arrange transfers, Pahalgam base-camp accommodation before and after the yatra, and local coordination — we do not issue permits or manage the trek itself, since that falls entirely under the Shrine Board's process.
Timing
Dates are set annually by the Shrine Board, typically within the June–August window — always check the current year's official dates rather than assuming they repeat exactly.
